Top 5 Priorities For A Better Week Ahead

Most weeks start by us stressing about the things we need to do. The major items like grocery shopping or laundry, but many times we forget about the small items we need to prioritize, like ourselves! Not really a small item, I know, but for most people, including myself, we tend to forget some of our own human needs week after week.

Today’s top 5 Trending On The Trax is all about the items that should take priority into our weekly schedules to live a happy, healthy and energetic life.

So here we go…

1. Reflection

When is the last time you actually sat back and reflected on your previous week or even just the day? Personally, it’s sometimes hard to remember what I had for breakfast. However, reflecting on the day or week can shed some wonderful insights on how the week ahead should shape up. Simply stated, if you had a positive week, why change up anything? Stick with the success you built and repeat it. Likewise, if things didn’t go well, what happened and what can you revise to make the upcoming week better? Think of it as the four “R’s” to a successful week. Reflect on what you did last week, repeat what went well, revise what didn’t to have a successful next week. Rinse, wash, repeat!

2. Mediation

Mediation is one of the most underutilized methods of training, mostly because we tend to fall asleep in the process or feel guilty for taking a “break” from your crazy life. Either way, try to look at mediation differently. Mediation is a great way to relieve stress and helps build that extra energy boost for your afternoon meetings. Meditation also helps build a creative environment in your mind to gather your thoughts and organize upcoming tasks. Spotify has some great meditation playlists. So take 15-20 minutes out of your day to meditate and rejuvenate your mind and body to kick ass the rest of the day.

3. Recovery

When was the last time you decided to take a day off for recovery? Not just a day off to do nothing and binge watch Netflix (though those days are needed too), but a day off where you focus on stretching, massage therapy, or just a gentle walk in the woods. Our bodies, like our phone batteries, need to recharge. So add a day this week to walk away from your typical hard core workout to focus on solely recovering your body. It deserves a break every once in a while, after all it keeps up with your shenanigans..

4. Self-Talk

Some days the only nice things you will hear are going to be the nice things you say about yourself. This might be sad, but it is true. With so much negative news and numerous social media posts on “having the perfect life”, no wonder depression and anxiety are at an all-time high. So why not try some positive self-talk. No, seriously, try it, like right now…. I’ll wait. Say one thing right now that you like about yourself. Weird right? However, the more you build confidence in yourself and start believing in all your greatness, the more amazing things will come your way. Think of self-talk as an easy way to give yourself a dose of luck throughout the day. #thesecret

5. Prepping

As Abraham Lincoln once said “not planning is planning to fail”. Would you ever plan a trip without checking out the sights, finding a way to get there or planning the activities? So, why do this with your weekly schedule? Creating a roadmap for your week is essential for massive success in everything you do. Start by taking some time, typically on a Sunday to map out your weeks. Some examples include your meals for the week, appointments you have, workout times and any other items that will take stress off your brain. Maybe even set up your outfits for the week to give you a few extra minutes in the morning (it adds up!). It may seem odd, but the more decisions you take out of your day, the more time and energy you will have to do the things you need (and want) to do.

What do you think your routine needs on a weekly basis? Did I miss something? I would love to hear your insights and thoughts!
