Brekki Overnight Oats Foodie Review

I love when I discover foods browsing the aisles of grocery stores. With a name like “brekki” I could not help but take a look at it!
Oatmeal is a very consistent breakfast for me, therefore when it comes to trying other oatmeal products, I have a high standard.
So here it goes, my Foodie Review on brekki’s overnight oats based on taste, nutrition and price.
Taste:
I think oatmeal is one of those foods where texture is important. What I really like about brekki is it has the perfect amount of "crunchies" in it. Eating oatmeal with nothing in it is like eating plain ice cream. You don’t know whether to chew it or lick it. When it has added crunch, you have the enjoyment of chewing it and tasting all the different flavors at the same time. They have a ton of different flavors like Acai Berries, Vanilla Cinnamon and Banana and Maple Brown Sugar. Pretty much everything that sounds delicious that you would add to oatmeal. The flavors are amazing and taste fresh rather than that preservative fruit taste. What I love most about brekki is that you can eat it cold or hot. I never thought I would enjoy cold oatmeal, but these are pretty darn good cold! Overall, I give the taste a 5 out of 5, I am super satisfied with the taste and really don’t have any comments to change it.
Favorite flavor: Vanilla Cinnamon
Nutrition:
Lets start with macros.. each flavor ranges plus or minus a few grams of carbs and calories, but overall they are generally comparable. Each have about 210 calories, 8 grams (35%) fat, 26 grams (50%) carbs and 6 grams (15%) protein. Generally, we look for a 1:1 ratio of carbs to protein, which clearly isn’t present. However, if you are eating it as a breakfast, you can add either a scoop of protein powder or 2 eggs to bump up the protein to hit that ratio and make it more of a well-rounded macro meal. The sugar isn’t bad at all. Most people add honey to their oatmeal which will be a lot more than the 9-11 grams sugar brekki has in it. You all know how I feel about sodium.. this product has less than 100 mg in the entire thing. LOVE IT! It is loaded with super foods such as chia seeds, flax seeds and buck-wheat, which helps keep you energized and satiated. Overall, I give the nutrition a 4.5/5. If it had a tiny bit more protein, it would get my full 5 star rating. Maybe they will come up with a Pro-Brekki?
Price:
So I found this gem at BJ’s and I got 6 bowls for $9.99. They also have it at the normal grocery stores like Stop and Shop and Market Basket. You can go on their website to see where you can get them near you. All are pretty comparable to the less than $2.00 per serving. I buy protein bars that are more expensive than this! I personally think this price is a steal.. especially because it’s a super convenient food to take on the go with no preparation needed. Overall, I give the price a 5 out of 5 stars. Even when you compare them to the other overnight oat brands on the market, it still beats the price. The only difference is it needs to be kept in the fridge and it has an expiration date. You know what that means though… FRESH ingredients!
I am pumped I found this product and I highly recommend it to those who need a quick grab and go wholesome meal or snack. I would even recommend it to people who aren’t total fans of oatmeal. Give it a try! Let me know what you think!
